How is this wedding a really good template for an intimate meaningful celebration?
Clara and Geordie’s wedding was the definitely great sample for the intimate meaningful celebration. I also love the big weddings but you cannot have the truly intimate moments with everyone. Clara and Geordie’s wedding was truly with close friends and family only and every single moment was celebrated with every single guests.
Clara and Geordies wedding was inspired by the book “Urban Vintage. What is the story behind this inspiration and how did having a book as inspiration work with your process?
We got inspired the overall style from the wedding venue.
Berkeley Fieldhouse is the unique venue which has beautiful urban vintage look and a lot of fun vintage details with modern touches in the heart of downtown.
For this brilliant academic couple (they are professors), we ended up to design urban vintage book concept wedding. Old books, chalk boards, library light, library card box, type writer and other book inspired details were designed together with bright and eye catching fresh yellow and urban grey colours.
” The receiving table was designed with book concept such as a vintage type writer, library shelves, library lights, library cards, books, chalk boards, hand writings with their beautifully framed engagement photos by Celine Kim Photography.” . Party With Chloe
How did you communicate with your couple to arrive at the perfect balance of the decor and design?
I usually suggest them certain styles first to suit into the venue and from there we adjust the design together with their preferred colours and design. Usually, I try to hear personal stories like how they met, what they like and try to pick a design detail point. Clara and Geordie are professors and we picked the book as a design element and developed my design from there. Usually, this design element can make your wedding a one of the kind one.
How do you feel the photographer captured the beauty and spirit of the day so successfully ?
I always go through all the design concepts, settings as well as schedules with the photographer before the wedding day so they can understand about the wedding fully. Celine Kim Photography is such a talented fine art photographer. She captures every single moment so poetically beautiful. From the getting ready to the end of the night, she didn’t miss any moments and details which is really important part for the wedding photographer. Clara and Geordie mentioned that Celine takes any ordinary setting to something magical.
How did your vast knowledge and set of skills and experiences come into play in helping Clara and Georgie plan and design their dream day?
I was trained academically in interior design and I was a professional interior designer in many different cities; Seoul, Boston, New York and Toronto. I worked on various projects such as hotels, restaurants, retails and condominiums world-wide. From those experiences, I got good eyes to design with mix and match various colours, textures, patterns, scales, space as well as management skills. Also 10 years experience in event planning and design made me more solid in this area.
How did you work with the floral designer to integrate the beautiful florals within the wedding design?
Floral design is the most important part for the wedding. I always try to maximize the floral effect within the couple’s budget. Flower 597 is my long time favorite floral designer so far. I always suggest the overall and detailed concept first and we brainstorm together with couples. Flower597 always came up with the better solutions and floral design turned out beautifully on the wedding day.
How involved was the couple in the planning and design process and how do you work with couples to accommodate how involved they want to be?
The reason my clients to hire me is always different. Some clients want to hands off from the planning process and trust their planner and proceed everything. Some clients want to go through every single steps with me. Clara and Geordie were living in States and Clara’s mom was the contact person for me in Toronto. With this situation, Clara’s mom was involved a lot for the initial design process and Clara and Geordie jumped in for more details through emails.
“The ceremonial area was created with yellow, white and grey paper lantern chandeliers and touch of greens. Gorgeous vintage florals were designed with talented florist Flower 597. Musician Sarah Loucks added lovely atmosphere for their ceremony and officiant Ceremonies with Choice announced Geordie and Clara, husband and wife. With gorgeous sunshine, Clara and Geordie were tied the knot in front of their lovely favorite people.” Party With Chloe

Clara and Geordie were living in U.S.A and everyone was putting their time and efforts to celebrate their wedding in Toronto. It was a really comfortable intimate wedding with their favourite people. Clara and Geordie tried their guests to enjoy every single moment with their all the hidden details through out their wedding. From the welcome sign, receiving table, ceremony, cocktail hour, reception and to dance floor, every single detail was considered to have wow fact and thoroughly considered their guests’ experience. They had gorgeous truffle chocolates from SOMA and all the fresh flowers were packed for guests to take home. Throughout the whole day everyone was mingled with Bride and Groom. What advice would you give a couple wanting to get married in 2021 considering the constant shifting variables because of Covid?
Last year was such a tough year for all the couples who were planning to get married since everything was uncertain. Couples were forced to postpone, and some canceled due to not being able to host their original guest count. Weddings shifted to smaller, intimate celebration and couples have to focus on health safeties and considerations for their loved ones first. I expect this year will be pretty similar. Instead of planning a large wedding, plan for an intimate wedding but it can be more detail oriented. From unique venue options to highly designed luxury decor, there are so many ways to personalize and upgrade your small, intimate wedding to your dream wedding! Also consider the virtual access to friends and family who cannot attend and share your happiest moment. The most important things, shut down all the negative comments and enjoy your wedding planning process. Love is not cancelled!
