Nerissa and Neil’s Modern Industrial Romantic Airship37 wedding shared with Insights from Simply Perfect Event Planners beautifully captured by Olive Photography.
What are some of the best things that you feel came together for Nerissa and Neil’s wedding ?
I loved the linens…the patterned grey cashmere for the guest tables with the simple lines of the bistro napkins; The double duty that the monogram played as the Ceremony backdrop, and then as the backdrop to the bar. And the use of the overall space. We literally flipped the room for two completely different looks for the Ceremony and Reception. The white brick gave us a freshness to the Ceremony, and then the barn board backdrop offered a more rustic vibe for the Head Table. And because the guests stepped away into another room for the Cocktails, the changeover from Ceremony to Reception was even more of a transformation.
What were some of the top priorities that Neil and Nerissa expressed to you for their big day ?
When I first get to know my couples, I always ask them what their 3 non-negotiables are…what are their priorities in terms of what needs to happen on their wedding day. It’s a great opportunity for my couples to stop and think before the stress of wedding planning, and all of the details distract them from what is truly important to them. For Nerissa and Neil, 1-Late Night Food, 2-Minimal Stress, 3-Guests to enjoy, relax and be well taken care of.
What were the key elements that made the head table success story ?
A breathtaking color palette, the barn board backdrop, luxury linens, a gorgeous floral tablescape, and of course the rustic and geo decor/accessory elements.
How was the wedding colour palette arrived at and carries through all the details ?
From the very beginning Nerissa and Neil were in love with the various shades that a neutral palette could offer. They wanted a natural, rustic theme with accents of white and greenery…and it worked perfectly with the blank canvas of Airship 37. We had a lot of fun with this design! The first point of inspiration that I shared with Nerissa and Neil as a starting point was the linens, and the playfulness that we could achieve by overlapping various patterns was something that they immediately fell in love with. And once we brought in the gold as our grounding accent, it led to the custom monogrammed backdrop, the gold geo accessories for the aisle/tables which perfectly complimented the softness of the color palette, the nature element of the greenery and of course, we can’t forget the gorgeous blooms!
How does having the ceremony and the reception in the same space offer some unique opportunities ?
Besides the apparent ones like convenience, and minimizing the travel time for the wedding party/guests from one location to another. I love the ways that you can make the same space look a little different by creating different focal points through layout, and strategic decor/accessory placement, and for the opportunity to have certain items play double duty such as the custom monogram/greenery installation for the Ceremony, and then used for the Bar without having to move it. Another item that is unique to Airship 37 is having the Ceremony/Reception take place in the same room…this means no storage options, which we completely used to our advantage by incorporating all of the centrepieces into the Ceremony decor which created an even more magical space!
What advice would you offer a couple being engaged and wedding planning in these shifting times ?
Keep it simple. Be flexible. Don’t lose sight on your why…it’s all about the I Do (it always was and always will be). Celebrate the big picture, and have fun with the little details.
